Miners Jubilee 2012 Schedule of Events 

Thursday July 19

1pm Vendor set up begins; must end by 7pm

5pm – 7:30pm Exclusive Presale SUMMER BOOKSALE by Friends of Baker County Library for members of Friends of Baker County Library, annual membership of $10 payable on entry if not current member. 

Friday July 20

8am-6pm Thatcher’s Ace Hardware Rolling Showroom Truck Event featuring Leupold, Remington, Otis, Springfield Armory Armalite and Savage 2nd and Washington

9-6pm SUMMER BOOKSALE by Friends of Baker County Library
10 am to 5pm Historic Baker City Sidewalk Sale Main Street

9 to 5 pm Quilt Show and Sale at the Baker County Events Center

10-2pm Blacksmithing demonstrations in the front yard of the Baker Heritage Museum and a daily clearance sale of gift shop items.  

11am-4pm Free Family Fun Area for the kids (and their parents) Bounce houses for all ages, games, arts and crafts, and new this year is the Y’s Cross-fit

12 noon to 7 pm Geiser Pollman Park Vendors

10am to 6pm Eastern Oregon Mining Association Mining Demonstration and Display & Miners and Prospectors Metal Detecting Geiser Pollman Park with kid’s gold panning all day. Wear your Miners Jubilee button to be entered in the drawing for a Jubilee medallion and don’t forget to look over the silent auctions items (the auction closes at 2pm on Sunday)

3-5pm KCMB Radio Live Remote at the Gazebeo in Geiser Pollman Park

1pm and 3pm Miners Jubilee Melodrama. This Melodrama performs twice on July 20th and twice on July 21st. at at the Iron Gate Theater in the Basche Sage Mall. The show features the playing of Keith Taylor on the piano. Ticket price is $12, children 12 and under $8. Come prepared to boo and hiss the villains, cheer the hero and sigh for the lovely lady. But, don't shoot the piano player! at the Iron Gate Theater in the Basche Sage Mall

Watch Paint Your Wagon at the Baker Heritage Museum at 1pm (It is nice and cool in the museum)

Noon to 6pm Music at Marilyn’s Music and the Veterans Event Center on Main

4pm Come hear the true story of the Oregon Trail by “Fanny” the pioneer woman as portrayed by fourth generation pioneer descendant Joyce Badgley Hunsaker at the Baker Heritage Museum in the Ballroom at.  This is a fundraiser for the Bandstand as a performance of the Powder River Music Review.  

6p.m. to 1a.m Baker City Bronc & Bull Riding Beer Garden. 

6pm-9pm Dance in the Grass- Live Music in Geiser Pollman Park  at the Gazebo performed by the Four Aces-  Food Bank drive- please consider donating a nonperishable food

7:00 pm Baker City Bronc Riding at the Fairgrounds stadium

Saturday July 21

7am Two man golf scramble tournament First tee off at Quail Ridge Golf Course

Mother Lode Cellars will be offering wine tasting and selling by the bottle Friday noon-6pm and Saturday noon -5pm on the lawn of the Baker Heritage Museum

The Baker City Lions Club will offer pre-event tickets to the Miners Jubilee breakfast in Geiser Pollman Park.  Pre-event tickets include a breakfast meal, access to the express breakfast line, and a raffle entry.  Breakfast will be served on Saturday and Sunday in the park.  Saturday’s meal includes sausage, eggs, and pancakes.  Sunday’s meal includes ham, eggs, and pancakes.  Pre-event tickets will be valid at either the Saturday or Sunday breakfast.  The raffle will include donated items and gift certificates from local business, and the grand-prize will be an original painting by Ann Eriksmoen.  Pre-event tickets are $6.50 and can be purchased at the Clothes Outlet.
Baker County Friends of the Library will hold its annual Miners Jubilee Book Sale beginning  Friday, July 20 from 9 am – 6pm.
Thousands of ex-library & other good used books will be sold that duplicate library resources or can’t be used in the library collection.

This sale is the Friend of the Library’s big annual fundraiser.  Proceeds help support such things as children’s reading programs and Free educational programs for adults.  The sale will continue post-jubilee from Monday – Thursday (7/23--27) during regular library hours.


2012 Miners Jubilee

We are beginning to make plans for the 2012 Miners Jubilee. Family Fun Area committee will be meeting the second Tuesday of each month to line up events, projects and volunteers. The Vendor applications are available on the blog for food vendors, merchandise vendors and art in the park. Application deadline for best pricing is April 1, 2012. Please remember to include payment, and your insurance binder including the Baker County Chamber of Commerce as an additional insured.
